THE ADVENT TRUTH
If God’s Law has been “done away with,” then God’s grace has been done away with too. Why? Because grace only exists where there is sin, and sin only exists where there is Law. The Bible couldn’t be clearer: “Sin is the transgression of the Law” (1 John 3:4). If there’s no Law, there’s no sin. And if there’s no sin… we don’t need a Savior, we don’t need the cross, and we don’t need grace. That entire logic collapses.

Paul destroys the “no more Law” idea repeatedly. He says, “Where no law is, there is no transgression” (Romans 4:15). If the Law is gone, then nobody has transgressed anything. And if nobody has transgressed anything, then why did Jesus die? Grace isn’t God winking at sin. Grace is God’s power and pardon because His Law still stands. The cross is the greatest evidence that the Law is unchangeable — because if God could have abolished His Law, Jesus wouldn’t have needed to die.

The gospel itself proves the Law is still in force. “Christ died for our sins” (1 Corinthians 15:3). What are sins? Violations of God’s Law. If the Law is gone, Christ died for nothing — because you can’t die for breaking a rule that no longer exists.

And Paul answers the big question: “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.” (Romans 3:31). Faith upholds the Law; it doesn’t erase it. Grace writes it on our hearts (Hebrews 8:10). Grace empowers obedience (Romans 8:3-4). Grace saves us from sin, not in sin.

A lawless gospel is a powerless gospel. A gospel without obedience is a gospel without transformation. And a gospel without the Law is a gospel without a cross.

If Satan can get you to believe the Law is gone, he’s already convinced you that grace is unnecessary. But if God’s people will lift up the full gospel — Law and grace together — the world will see the beauty of a God who forgives, restores, and empowers His children to walk in His commandments.
