Right on Time
Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greeting," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. (Matthew 28:9)
Scripture: Matthew 28:1-10
Song: "He Leadeth Me"
Once when I was in college, I was driving to my apartment from work when I got a flat tire. This was a small town and mostly safe, but being a young woman alone with no knowledge of how to change a tire was stressful, nonetheless. Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a man on a bicycle appeared and stopped to help me put on my spare tire. It was the help I needed right on time.
In this passage, the two Marys and the disciples are in one of the darkest times of their lives. Their beloved teacher and leader has been executed, and they are grieving and confused. Suddenly, an angel appears with the message that Jesus is not there but has risen. Then just as suddenly, Jesus Himself shows up to confirm what the angel has said. In the midst of diffuculty and despare, Jesus meets them with hope and encouragement.
Even in the darkest moments of our lives, God is faithful to meet us. He understands all our pain, weariness, and confusion, and He meets us there to lift us up and renew our hope. Make a list of times God met you right on time with just what you needed. Use it as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness to build your faith when you're struggling.
Father, thank You for Your perfect timing, and for meeting me where and when I need it on my journey. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
