Strength Comes From the Lord

Scripture

Judges 15:18 (NKJV)
Then he became very thirsty so he cried out to the Lord and said You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised

Depending on God After Victory

Judges chapter 15 continues the story of Samson and his conflict with the Philistines. God empowers Samson to defeat his enemies in dramatic fashion. Yet after a great victory Samson finds himself physically weak and desperate with thirst.

Verse 18 shows a turning point. After experiencing strength and triumph Samson cries out to the Lord. He recognizes that the deliverance came from God not from his own power. In weakness he turns to the One who provided the victory.

God responds by miraculously providing water and reviving him. This moment teaches that even after great success we remain dependent on God. Physical strength spiritual gifting and past victories do not remove our need for daily reliance on Him.

For believers today Judges 15 reminds us that success can be followed by exhaustion and vulnerability. The same God who gives victory also sustains us afterward. We must not allow triumph to replace dependence. Prayer after victory is just as important as prayer before battle.

Reflection Questions

1. Do I turn to God for strength after seasons of success

2. Have I confused God’s power working through me with my own ability

3. Where do I need renewed strength from the Lord today

Prayer

Lord God thank You for every victory You bring into my life. Remind me that all strength comes from You. When I feel weak or exhausted help me to cry out to You quickly. Sustain me daily and keep me dependent on Your power. In Jesus name Amen.
