Dear Father, During the period when the Midianites oppressed the Israelites, an angel appeared to Gideon and said, “Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?” And Gideon responded, saying, “Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” I am baffled at how a man could read out a lesser profile of what he knows about himself, as opposed to what You have called him to be. It seems almost like the clay cup saying to the potter that it isn’t capable of holding water. This illustration reminds me that while we may not all be privileged to know our assignments and purposes by divine revelation, we all have premonitions of what we could become or what heights we can attain in destiny. I’m pondering how dangerously effective a simple recurring thought--“I am not made for this” can be in reshaping our destinies. Gideon communed with an angel; we interact with our minds; a not-so-convincing entity, yet with similar struggles. Isn’t our conviction the bridge between Your will and our reality? Father, I will no longer be bothered by the limiting beliefs that throng the attainment of my goals. I am who You say I am.
