Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

Our mini vacation has come to an end. Frankenmuth is quite the little town. I have met some truly interesting and pleasant people. Believe it or not, everyone was polite and interactive; not the sales pitch way, but the genuinely nice to meet you way.

I told you yesterday about our walk around and that I had met a few authors, three of whom were Christian-based authors. The last one was the one who gave me some sound advice, and when I left, I told her she was now my topic. Unfortunately, yesterday’s post turned out to be a bit longer, so here we are today.

I had shared that my daughter had told me that I stink at promoting my books. (She is correct.) This author told me she had the same dilemma that I do, in not wanting to be seen as pompous or pushy. Then, she gave me a piece of advice that I am grateful for. She explained that she had similar feelings, but then she remembered the apostle Peter. Was he one to sit around and ‘wait’ for something to happen, or did he go out and start something happening? Since I relate so well to him, I told her that was not fair and we laughed. She had no idea, but isn’t it interesting the people we meet and the impact they have on our lives?

I can honestly say that my intention for the day is not to mix and mingle; however, I do, most days, go out with the intention of making at least one new friend. Not the call you every minute friend or emoji friend, but the ‘hey, looks like you could use a kind ear’ friend. In following that directive, I have made several new friends. Perhaps I need to incorporate that energy into the promotion of my books.

This last year I did not do any events. My personal life just did not accommodate any more activity; however, I do believe that I will take the stand to move forward and start booking more events and self-promoting. God does not flip a quarter to decide what He wants us to do. He has a complete plan. He knows exactly the what, the when, and the where of our destiny. He did not just send me all this way from home for a vacation. He sent me to meet like authors. He sent me to plant a seed. He sent me to get me out of my comfort zone. There was a time for a time out in my promotions; however, He sent me six hours from my comfort zone to meet people to encourage me to move forward. My time out is over. This time and this place were the where for me to see that my timeout is almost over and that the enemy does not want me back in the game. I need to be more like Peter and take that first step back into the promotions game.

As I am nearing the date when I will have enormous amounts of weekends free, I foresee a plethora of book signings and promotions coming. A big shout-out to C.C. Urie, the author, who reminded me that Peter would not be sitting at home. I normally do not use names, but she was the one He used to open my eyes in the right direction.

Today as you start your week, think about those that have been put in your path. What impact have they had on you? What words did they use to open a closed door? What tone or mannerism connected to you? Be sure to thank the Father for sending them. And … if you get the chance, be sure to thank them too.

Be blessed.
