Every Knee Will Bow – But Not Every Soul Will Be Saved
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)
One day, every knee will bow.
Every tongue will confess.
No one will dispute the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
But Scripture makes it clear – this confession does not mean universal salvation!
There are two moments when knees bow before Christ:
1. Now, in repentance and faith unto salvation
2. Then, in judgment, when it is too late to change eternity
Philippians 2 does not describe an altar call – it describes a courtroom certainty.
The Great White Throne: The Confession of the Lost
Revelation 20:11-15 reveals the sobering scene:
“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it...And I saw the dead, small and great, standing God...And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”
At the Great White Throne Judgment, the lost will bow – not as children welcomed home, but as criminals standing before a holy Judge.
They will confess Jesus is Lord, not because they love Him - but because truth can no longer be denied!
No arguments.
No excuses.
No second chances.
What was mocked on earth will be acknowledged in terror.
What was rejected in grace will be faced in wrath.
Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 7:22-23:
“Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord...' And I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me.'”
These are not atheists. These are people who knew His name but never surrendered to His lordship.
At the Great White Throne, worship does not save – only the blood of Christ does, received by faith before death.
The Urgency of Salvation Now
2 Corinthians 6:2 says:
“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
Today, knees can bow in mercy.
Today, tongues can confess unto life.
Today, names can be written in the Book of Life.
John 5:24 says:
“He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
Those who belong to Christ will never stand at the Great White Throne – their judgment was settled at the cross.
A Loving Warning
The same Jesus who saves is the Jesus who judges. The same name that heals is the name before which the lost will tremble.
Philippians 2 promises certainty – every knee will bow.
The only question is when and why.
Bow now in faith...or bow later in fear and judgment.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with trembling hearts and grateful souls. Thank You for exalting Jesus above every name and for offering salvation through His blood. Lord, awaken the lost before it is too late. Break hearts that are hardened, open blind eyes, and draw souls to repentance today. May none delay their surrender until the Great White Throne, but may they bow now at the foot of the cross and be saved. Write our names in the Book of Life, keep us faithful, and use us to warn others with truth and love.
We confess now – Jesus Christ is Lord – to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Today is the time to be saved.
