Balaam knew the voice of God.
He used the covenant name of the Lord.
He spoke powerful, true prophetic words.
And yet his heart was far from God.
He wanted God’s power, but not God’s rule.
He wanted the reward of the world, while sounding spiritual.
He said, “I can only speak what God tells me,”
but behind the scenes he was negotiating for profit and position.
Balaam didn’t fail because he lacked truth.
He failed because he loved something more than truth.
It’s possible to know the right words.
To lift our hands on Sunday.
To look like we honour God.
But God sees the heart.
Are we following Jesus for who He is
or for what we can get?
Is there a difference between our Sunday faith and our Monday life?
Let’s not just speak obedience.
Let’s live it.
“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”
