📅 BIBLE STUDY — February 19 | Leviticus Chapter 18 INTRODUCTION Leviticus chapter 18 addresses God’s design for sexual holiness. As Israel prepared to live as God’s covenant people in the Promised Land, the LORD clearly distinguished His standards from the practices of surrounding nations. This chapter teaches that holiness is not only about worship, but also about how God’s people live in their bodies, families, and relationships. God’s laws are given to protect life, dignity, and covenant faithfulness. CONTEXT SUMMARY Israel had lived in Egypt for generations and was about to enter Canaan—both cultures practiced immoral behaviors tied to idol worship. God establishes clear boundaries so Israel would not absorb pagan customs. These commands are grounded in God’s identity: He is the LORD. Obedience was not cultural preference, but covenant faithfulness. Leviticus 18 shows that sexual sin defiles individuals, families, and even the land, while obedience leads to life.
