Dear Father,
When You sent Moses on an assignment to Egypt to free the Israelites from slavery, one of the reasons he was reluctant to go was the manner in which he spoke, for he was a stammerer. The amazing part about this scripture is that You knew he was a stammerer, yet You still called him.
Doesn’t this reveal something about You? But what does it reveal about us? In holding on to the mindset that favors perfect conditions and capabilities, there are projects we never begin and journeys we never embark on. But isn’t that a platform to fail long before we even begin?
And, Father, Your response to Moses’s reluctance reveals that You had no intention of healing his stammering lips. This illustrates that Your basic requirement for the assignments to which we are called isn’t necessarily perfection, it is obedience.
Obedience, regardless of the stammering lips; the financial constraints; the inabilities; the doubts, fears, and imperfect conditions. The journey toward perfection often begins with obedience, and it is in our obedience that we find Your strength.
