Sunday Laws
We at 3ABN recently read an eye-opening article highlighting how a major cultural voice is calling the protection of Sunday rest “non-negotiable.” What was once primarily a religious discussion is now being framed as a social, cultural, and even moral necessity. From a Biblical perspective, this is significant.
The Bible foretold that, near the end of earth’s history, there would be a movement to enforce worship practices contrary to God’s commandments. Daniel 7:25 speaks of a power that would “think to change times and laws.” Revelation 13:16-17 describes a system that would influence buying and selling based on worship allegiance. Revelation 14:9-12 contrasts this with a faithful people who “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”
The growing call to elevate Sunday observance in civil society echoes what Scripture predicted. While rest is a divine gift, the Bible clearly identifies the seventh day—not the first—as the Lord’s Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-11). As cultural and political voices increasingly emphasize Sunday observance, we are reminded that prophecy is unfolding before our eyes.
Ellen White wrote:
“The enforcement of Sundaykeeping on the part of Protestant churches is an enforcement of the worship of the papacy—of the beast” (The Great Controversy, p. 448).
She also warned that the final crisis would center on worship and obedience to God’s law.
These developments should not cause fear—but preparation. Now is the time to:
• Study the Bible for yourself and understand God’s commandments.
• Strengthen your daily relationship with Jesus through prayer.
• Practice faithful obedience in the small things today.
• Share the everlasting gospel message of Revelation 14 with love and clarity.
Jesus told us, “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28). The signs around us remind us that Christ’s return is near. Let us be spiritually awake, grounded in Scripture, and ready to stand for truth.
What are your thoughts on the growing cultural push for Sunday observance—and how can we prepare spiritually for what Bible prophecy says is coming?
