Just Be You
It’s human nature to seek out friends and develop relationships. People need to feel wanted, loved, needed, and appreciated. It’s as necessary for your health as it is to have air to breathe. However, when you’re rejected by someone you love, it can be downright devastating and leave you feeling worthless and unlovable. The truth is that not everyone is going to think you’re amazing . . . and that’s okay. There will always be people who, no matter how hard you try to please, will simply not like you. That’s just the way it is. But there will also be people who will love you passionately and be there for you through thick and thin. Don’t waste time worrying about the ones who reject you. The ones who love you, they are “your” people, so cherish them and just be yourself. Whenever a relationship ends, there are tears, heartache, and self-doubt. Questions arise as to what went wrong, and feelings of unworthiness often emerge. But before you beat yourself up about why you weren't good enough, ask yourself, “Do I really want to be with someone who doesn’t want me?” You’ll never have to negotiate your way into a heart that wants you there. One day, someone will walk into your life and make you see why it never worked out with anyone else, and it will all make sense. Instead of being bitter, angry, or resentful, pray for a kind, Christ-like spirit, even if the one rejecting you is mean and hateful. Pray to have eyes that see the best in people, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad, and a soul that never loses faith in God. You cannot break a person who gets their strength from above, so lean on Jesus and allow Him to fill your heart with love and forgiveness, and remember God thinks you’re awesome . . . so just be “you.” Text: John 15:18, 1 Corinthians 15:10, Ephesians 5:8, 2 Timothy 2:15
