Most people live their entire lives thinking they are their body. What they feel decides. What they see rules. What the flesh wants leads. But the Bible says something far deeper — and far more unsettling: You are not just a body. You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body. When these are confused, life is chaotic. When they are rightly understood, truth becomes clear. 📖 GOD’S DESIGN: SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY Scripture is explicit: “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV) This is not symbolism. This is God describing how man is made. 🟦 THE SPIRIT — MADE ALIVE BY GOD (SAVED ONLY) The human spirit is the part of man that relates to God. But Scripture is clear — by nature, it is dead toward God. “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” — Ephesians 2:1 (KJV) Dead does not mean non-existent. It means unresponsive. At salvation, something supernatural happens. “He that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” — 1 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV) The Holy Spirit regenerates the human spirit. This is why fellowship with God becomes possible — not through emotion, not through effort, but through new life. 👉 The human spirit does not lead by itself. 👉 The Holy Spirit leads through a regenerated spirit. ⚪ THE BODY — PHYSICAL AND TEMPORARY The body is real. It matters. But it is not eternal. “Though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” — 2 Corinthians 4:16 (KJV) The body: Feels pain Ages Weakens Dies “It is appointed unto men once to die…” — Hebrews 9:27 (KJV) Death is not the end of existence — it is the separation of the body from the soul and spirit. The body returns to the dust, but the person does not cease. 🟨 THE SOUL — CONSCIOUS, AWARE, AND ETERNAL The soul is not the body. The soul is not the spirit. The soul is the inner person — mind, will, and emotions. Jesus Himself spoke from His soul: “My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death…” — Matthew 26:38 (KJV) And Scripture leaves no room for “soul sleep”: “Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul…” — Matthew 10:28 (KJV) The soul continues after death, fully conscious. “And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments…” — Luke 16:23 (KJV) “To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV) Death is not unconsciousness. It is relocation. 🧠 WHY THIS MATTERS IN DAILY LIFE Problems begin when the soul or body takes the lead: Emotions dominate truth Feelings override Scripture Flesh dictates decisions God’s order is clear: The Holy Spirit leads Through the regenerated human spirit The soul responds The body follows When that order is reversed, confusion rules. 🔻 FINAL HEART-CHECK WHAT PART IS LEADING YOU? Your emotions? Your flesh? Or the Spirit of God working through a spirit made alive in Christ? The body will die. The soul will continue. The spirit is alive only in Christ. This is not philosophy.
