THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK DEVOTIONAL
The Road With Many Lanes

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

In case you’re wondering who “the called” are, I believe the answer is found in Revelation 22:17, “And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”

After 24 years of church membership, I view the Christian experience much like a road with many lanes. Each lane has a different speed, and each one of us is in a different lane, moving at a different speed in our Christian experience.

We need to remember that wherever we are in our experience, there are those who are behind us, beside us, and ahead of us. There may be some who are parked in the rest area, not currently on the road for whatever reason. We need to pray for them to reenter the journey safely and help them in any way we can. Others have never entered the road but are searching for an on-ramp; Lord, let us be their “entrance” sign that helps them find their way!

Perhaps some have crashed and become fatalities on the road of Christianity, while others have been seriously, or perhaps not so seriously injured. They may be able to find their way back onto the highway at a future time and continue their journey.

We need to be patient with those behind us and beside us and pray that those ahead of us will extend us the same courtesy. Regardless, we can count on the Lord, who has promised us in Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

It’s comforting to know that if we should crash along the way, God has told us, “My grace is sufficient for you.” 2 Corinthians 12:9. When we study the Scriptures carefully, we notice that God’s grace is the power He gives us to obey Him. No matter what crash we may experience, He is able to repair us and put us back on the road again!
