A False Convert
There are people who profess to be Christians but don’t truly understand what that really means. They have a “love” for God, but don’t grasp the concept of making God their highest priority. When you fall in love with Jesus, you make Him first in your life, not second, third, or fourth... but number one! Your love for God comes before your parents, your spouse, and even your children. God wants your love for Him to supersede everything and everyone else, including yourself! If you’re not willing to deny yourself, you can’t be a Christian. You are either a slave to sin or a slave to Christ. Simply put, you can’t serve two masters; you must choose who you will serve. Matthew 6:24 tells us, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.” If you choose to be a lover of sin, your life will end in destruction, but choosing to be a slave to Christ will give you eternal life. God wants you to say no to the devil’s temptations and discipline yourself to obey the voice of the Holy Spirit. Make no mistake, the life of a surrendered Christian is a difficult one. Satan will try everything he can to discourage you in efforts to separate you from Jesus. There will be times when you are lonely, persecuted, ridiculed, and labeled as a failure, but don’t give up. Stay true to your convictions and faithfulness to Christ and great will be your reward. On the other hand, if you like living your life of sin and want to keep things just the way they are, you are not a Christian, just a false convert. Unwillingness to change will cost you your salvation. Some people rationalize, “I’ll go to heaven because I’m a good person,” “I’m not breaking any laws,” or “God knows my heart,” but God will not listen to any of your excuses. Plain and simple, you will be lost. Without a surrendered heart, you will not only have a miserable existence here on earth, but also in the earth to come, because you won’t be there. Surrender your whole heart to Jesus today, by making Him “number one” in your life . . . today and every day! Text: James 4:7, Colossians 3:17, John 15:5, Galatians 2:20
