Speak Lord Your Servant Is Listening
Scripture
1 Samuel 3:10 (NKJV)
Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times Samuel Samuel And Samuel answered Speak for Your servant hears
A Heart Ready to Hear
1 Samuel chapter 3 records the calling of Samuel as a young boy serving in the temple under Eli. Scripture notes that the word of the Lord was rare in those days. Spiritual leadership had grown weak and revelation was not frequent. Yet in that quiet season God chose to speak.
At first Samuel did not recognize the Lord’s voice. It took guidance and humility for him to understand who was calling. When he finally realized it was the Lord, his response was simple and powerful. Speak for Your servant hears. This posture reveals readiness, submission, and willingness to obey.
God was not merely seeking Samuel’s attention. He was preparing him for responsibility. Hearing from God requires more than curiosity. It requires obedience. Samuel’s willingness to listen positioned him to become a faithful prophet and leader in Israel.
For believers today 1 Samuel 3 reminds us that God still speaks through His Word and by His Spirit. The question is not whether God is speaking but whether we are listening. A responsive heart prepares us to walk in God’s purpose.
Reflection Questions
1. Am I intentionally creating space to hear from God
2. Do I respond to God’s Word with obedience or hesitation
3. What distractions may be dulling my spiritual hearing
Prayer
Lord God give me a heart that listens. Remove distractions and teach me to recognize Your voice through Scripture and prayer. Help me not only to hear but to obey what You speak. I present myself as Your servant ready to follow. In Jesus name Amen.
