From April 18–25, 2026, a national event called America Reads the Bible will take place in Washington, D.C.
According to their website, the goal is:
“To reawaken American souls and help our nation draw near to God.”
The plan is to publicly read the entire Bible — from Genesis to Revelation — with participation from ministry leaders and public officials.
On the surface, that sounds like a positive spiritual movement.
But Bible prophecy gives us a framework to watch carefully.
Revelation 13 describes a time when the United States — a nation with lamb-like Christian profession — will eventually unite religious influence with civil authority and enforce an apostate form of worship.
Prophecy does not predict a godless America becoming oppressive.
It predicts a religious America doing so.
The question is not whether Scripture is read.
The question is what happens when national identity and religious authority begin to merge.
Revelation warns that before coercion appears, there will be religious enthusiasm.
Discernment matters.
