Why clamouring for death as a last resort? Death is a proof that we are human and that we have no control over certain things in life - limitations Death has always been seen by some school of thought as a passage from the earthly realm into the spiritual realm. Death is also seen as the end of a life that opens a portal to the beginning of another life. There is not a day that passes by without not hearing the news of death. Surprising just as new born babies are born daily so does someone dies daily. We understand that death is something we cannot escape in life as every living thing must die - plants die, animal die, so do humans. However, we see people are scared of death even at the mention of it, but some clamour and yearn for it like it's not something to be afraid of. What makes people seek death as something they clamour for - as their last resort? Let dive into the pages of the scripture 1.Moses who was overwhelmed by the burden of leadership and unending complaints of the children of Israelites. In Numbers 11:14-15 2.Elijah prayed for death due to the threat from Jezebel over His victory on the Baals prophets in 1 King 19:4 3.Jonah asked God to take his life - because he fore knew God is a merciful God and won't go ahead with his judgment on the city. He became angry hence his request 4.Jeremiah was in a state of despair and wished he had never lived. All these biblical characters had their reasons for seeking death as their last resort but God showed up at the toughest hour to set them straight and put them back on track (He can do that for you as well...) We are at one time or the other guilty of making or wishing such statements  like the characters we mentioned ( statements such as: Lord kill me, I want to die, I should never have been born, I should have been flushed out of the womb, why am I living is death note better... ) When things are not working in our favour, when that expectation is taking forever to be met,When disappointments keep knocking.  We seem to want to find solace in death. I want you to know this no amount of pressure, feeling of Inadequacy or challenges should make you wish or pray for death. God gave you life for a purpose - he decides when the time is up and by what means it will come to an end. Discard those suicidal thoughts, don't let the pressure of the world get to you, don't engage in acts that can lead to an untimely death. There is so much you have got in you to give to your world and if you don't fulfil that purpose you might as well be winning against God. Death is not an option nor your last resort - rather be thankful for the gift of life, you have a reason to live just think about it and let God help you walk/work it out. Find God fearing people or church you can open your hearts to - your situation is not worse as the devil is trying to make you to see/believe. God is ready to help you open a new chapter of your life today - let him in and let go your burdens.
