Remembering God’s Faithfulness

1 Samuel chapter 7 marks a turning point for Israel. After years of spiritual drift and defeat, the people finally return to the Lord with repentance and sincerity. They put away foreign gods and serve the Lord only. Samuel leads them in prayer and intercession.

When the Philistines come to attack, Israel does not rely on symbols or strategy alone. They cry out to the Lord, and God responds with power. He thunders against the enemy and grants victory.

After the victory, Samuel sets up a stone and names it Ebenezer, meaning stone of help. This memorial was not built to celebrate Israel’s strength but to remember God’s intervention. Thus far the Lord has helped us.

This chapter teaches the importance of remembering. Gratitude strengthens faith. Memorials anchor trust. When we intentionally recall how God has helped us in the past, we gain courage for the future.

For believers today 1 Samuel 7 reminds us to mark moments of God’s faithfulness. Whether through journaling, testimony, or reflection, remembering God’s help fuels continued trust. The same God who helped before will help again.

Reflection Questions

1. Do I intentionally remember how God has helped me
