Dear Father, In Susa, during the time when Esther was queen and a verdict had been issued to kill all the Jews; Mordecai, her uncle, entreated her to go before the king and plead on their behalf. For he said, "Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this." The story of Queen Esther paints a profound picture of impact. I see courage that wasn’t born in that moment, and more importantly, I see the awakening of awareness -- Esther was a queen, but never would she have imagined that her position would demand more than a beautiful body adorned in royal robes. Never would she have thought that one day, the destiny of an entire nation would rest upon her shoulders, or that she would make such a profound impact, saving countless people. The downside of impact is the unawareness that every position carries a responsibility to make one. Whether we are truck pushers or royalty, facing challenges or living in ease, each position holds a call to influence. But how often do we hold back because of the limiting belief that a worthy impact requires a great position? How often do we wait to be told that perhaps, we have been brought into this very place for such a time as this? Being ushered into a position is also being ushered into the responsibility for impact, whether or not we feel ready. Open our eyes, Father, to see the ways we can change the world by simply doing what is required of us.
