GOD QUALIFIES THE CALLED
“FROM FEAR TO FIRE WHEN GOD TURNED GIDEON’S WEAKNESS INTO VICTORY"
(Book of Judges 6–7)
The Midianites swarmed the land like locusts. They stole harvests. They crushed hope. They made Israel hide in caves.
And somewhere in a winepress hiding, afraid, unnoticed, stood a young man named Gideon. Not on a battlefield. Not in armor. But hiding.
Then Heaven interrupted, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
Mighty? He was the least in his family. From the weakest clan. Full of doubt. Full of questions. But GOD DOES NOT CALL THE QUALIFIED. HE QUALIFIES THE CALLED.
Gideon asked for signs. Fire fell on the offering. The fleece was wet with dew while the ground was dry. Then the ground was wet while the fleece was dry. GOD WAS PATIENT. GOD WAS SPEAKING.
When it was time for battle, 32,000 men gathered. God said, “Too many.” 22,000 left.
10,000 remained. “Still too many.” It was reduced to 300 men.
No swords flashing. No mighty army. Just trumpets. Clay jars. Torches hidden inside.
In the dead of night, they surrounded the Midianite camp. They were about to see that it is not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of the Lord.
At the SIGNAL— The JARS shattered. The TORCHES blazed. The TRUMPETS roared. “FOR THE LORD AND FOR GIDEON!”
Confusion exploded in the enemy camp. Panic spread like wildfire. The Midianites turned on each other and fled.
Israel didn’t win because they were strong.
They WON BECAUSE GOD WAS. The same GOD WHO FINDS WARRIORS IN WINE PRESSES…
The same GOD WHO REDUCES ARMIES so HIS POWER CAN BE SEEN…
The same GOD WHO TURNS FEAR INTO FIRE…
HE IS STILL WORKING.
IF WE FEEL SMALL, OVERLOOKED, or UNQUALIFIED, WE MIGHT BE EXACTLY WHO GOD IS ABOUT TO USE.
VICTORY DOES NOT START START WITH STRENGTH. IT STARTS WITH OBEDIENCE.
