WISDOM MULTIPLIED

James 3:17
The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peacable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Heavenly wisdom is continually coming from above, as evidenced in Jame's use of the present tense in 3:17. God's supply of wisdom never runs dry, but keeps coming to us to meet the demands of each hour (James 1:5). This wisdom is manifested through God's Son, made available through God's Holy Spriti, and written down in God's holy book, the Bible. The wise man is the man who has given himself to Jesus Christ and who, with the Spirit's help, keeps his intellect in submission to the will of God.

The comparison of heavenly and earthly wisdom is instructive. The world's wisdom results in "confusion" (v.16), but God's wisdom always brings "peace" (v.18). The result of the world's wisdom is "every eveil thing (v.16), but God's wisdom produces fruit. In the fruit of God's wisdom are the seeds of more fruit; the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace (v.18). God's wisdom automatically multiplies.
