Celebrate Friends
From the very beginning of time, God gave us the gift of friendship. He made us to be “social” people with a need for relationships. That’s why He created Eve to be a companion for Adam. It’s more meaningful to share a beautiful sunset or a special occasion with someone who cares about you. And you wouldn’t laugh nearly as loud at a funny story if you were by yourself! It’s easier to endure heartaches if we have someone to share our burdens with. The Bible says in Galatians 6:2, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Even those special moments in our lives are more joyous if shared with friends! When a couple decides to get married, they start planning their wedding based on how many friends can attend. Real, genuine friends are loyal, supportive, and loving in the good times and the bad! Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times.” Friendships need to be nourished, cherished, and treasured, but remember, to have a friend . . . you must first BE a friend! Follow Jesus’ example by being kind, unselfish, and loving, and you’ll have more friends than you can imagine. Celebrate your friends today by doing something special for them - and most of all, don’t forget your Best Friend of all . . . Jesus! Text: 1 John 4:11, Hebrews 13:16, 1 John 3:11, Proverbs 27:6
