NOT FORGOTTEN

The one who was forgotten, never mentioned when opportunity came was the one the prophet said, "WE WILL NOT SIT DOWN UNTIL HE ARRIVES."

Friend, this might be our story in this season of our life. THE ONE THEY OVERLOOK. THE ONE THEY DON'T CALL INTO THE ROOM. THE ONE WHOSE NAME IS MISSING WHEN DECISIONS ARE BEING MADE.

And yet, HEAVEN IS ABOUT TO INTRODUCE A VOICE, PEOPLE RESPECT, that will say, "WE ARE NOT MOVING FORWARD UNTIL YOU GET HERE."

Let's walk this journey together. When Samuel arrived at Jesse's house in 1 Samuel 16, it was a serious moment. A KING WAS ABOUT TO BE CHOSEN. OIL WAS IN THE HORN. DESTINY WAS IN THE ROOM. Seven sons stood lined up. Seven options that looked right. Tall. Structured. Impressive.

David Wasn't Even Invited. Not because he was rebellious. Not Because He Was Incompetent. He was simply in the field.

Forgotten in routine.
Buried in responsibility.
Hidden in mundane assignments.

And sometimes that is how life feels. We are faithful, but we are FAR FROM VISIBILITY. We are gifted, but we are FAR FROM RECOGNITION. We are anointed, but we are NOT ACKNOWLEDGED.

Jesse presented all his sons. One by one they passed before the prophet. And one by one God said no. Imagine that tension in the room. The oil is not flowing. The silence stretches.

Until Samuel asked, "Are these all the sons you have?" That question alone tells us something. HEAVEN KNOWS WHEN SOMEONE IS MISSING.

Jesse answered almost casually, "There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is keeping the sheep."

There remains. Not David the brave. Not David the skillful. Just the youngest.

But HEAVEN DOES NOT CALL US BY HOW MEN REDUCE US. "Send and bring him," Samuel said, "for WE WILL NOT SIT DOWN UNTIL HE COMES HERE."

Pause there. The Father Stood. The Brothers Stood. The Elders Stood. The Prophet Stood.

WAITING FOR THE FORGOTTEN ONE. God did not change David's birth order. He was still the youngest. He was still the last son. But WHAT GOD DID WAS FLIP THE POSITION. The one who usually stood while others sat was now the reason others stood.

THAT IS WHAT DIVINE FAVOR DOES. IT DOES NOT ALWAYS REWRITE OUR PAST. IT REPOSITIONS OUR FUTURE.

Maybe when David's older brothers came home from the battlefield, he stood up out of respect. Maybe he moved aside when they entered rooms. Maybe he learned early how to be the least. BUT ON THAT DAY, THE ENTIRE HOUSE LEARNED HOW TO WAIT FOR HIM.

And here is what makes this even more powerful.

DAVID DID NOT WASTE THE FIELD. While he was unseen, HE WAS SHARPENING. While he was overlooked, HE WAS DEVELOPING. While he was alone, HE WAS GROWING.

The Bible later describes him as SKILLFUL, PRUDENT in speech, MIGHTY in valor, and THE LORD WAS WITH HIM in 1 Samuel 16:18. That did not happen overnight. THAT WAS BUILT IN OBSCURITY.

He fought lions and bears when no one applauded. He played his harp when no one was recording. He worshiped when no one was watching.

He REFUSED TO LET NEGLECT MAKE HIM SMALL.
Friend, just because we are not mentioned does not mean we should stop preparing. Just because they forgot us does not mean we forget ourself.

BUILD our skill. STRENGTHEN our character. GROW our mind. DEEPEN our relationship with God.

Because WHEN OUR MOMENT COMES, it will not ask whether we were popular. IT WILL REVEAL WHETHER WE WERE PREPARED.

It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to have an opportunity and not be prepared. DAVID WAS READY BEFORE THEY CALLED HIM.

And when he finally walked into that room, God said, "ARISE, ANOINT HIM; FOR THIS IS THE one."

After being overlooked. After being dismissed. After being left in the field.

Prophet says, THIS IS THE ONE.

I don't know who this is for tonight, but I sense strongly that our field season is not punishment. It is preparation. Natural laws may say we are disadvantaged. Background may say we are last. Systems may say we don't qualify.

But God controls both the spiritual and the physical. And when He decides to flip the room, no one can sit until you arrive.

This is our word. There is a voice coming into our life. A voice with influence. A voice that carries weight. And that voice will say, "We are not proceeding without you."

The opportunity meant for us will not be given to another. The room assigned to us will not close before you get there.

Keep building! Keep becoming! Keep believing!

Because WHEN HEAVEN ANNOUNCES US, it will be clear. THIS IS THE ONE.
Amen
