In Romans 7, Rabbi Paul describes the 'inner man' who delights in God's law versus the Yetzer HaRa [evil inclination] that serves our sinful passions. This is a Jewish teaching of the two inclinations constantly battling for control over the person. Paul looks toward a deliverer, Jesus Christ, to rescue him from the 'body of death.' The Holy Spirit dwelling within empowers us to overcome the Yetzer HaRa (evil inclination/sinful nature).
