Remember What God Has Done

1 Samuel chapter 12 records Samuel’s farewell address to Israel. After Saul is confirmed as king, Samuel reminds the people of their history and their relationship with God. He recounts how the Lord repeatedly delivered them, guided them, and remained faithful even when they were not.

Samuel calls the people to examine their hearts. Though they had demanded a king, God had not abandoned them. Instead, Samuel urges them to continue fearing the Lord and serving Him faithfully.

Verse 24 captures the heart of Samuel’s message. True devotion flows from remembering God’s faithfulness. When people reflect on the great things God has done, gratitude leads to obedience. Forgetfulness often leads to disobedience.

Samuel emphasizes that service to God must come from the heart. It is not merely outward behavior but sincere devotion rooted in reverence and gratitude.
