Romans 10 v 3 "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." It’s a strange idea that the devil can be interested in helping you to establish your own righteousness, but this is the reason why – when you function according to the righteousness that God gave you as a gift, then you are established on sure footing. But when it is your own personal righteousness, sooner or later, the devil will come after it because he knows how easy it is to poke holes into that one.
