It’s not about how the world behaves, or how wicked wickedness may become. Scripture never places the focus there. The decisive issue is how a child of God takes advantage of the life already upon him in Christ Jesus and walks in the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus made the source of that life unmistakably clear.

John 10:10 (KJV)
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

A child of God is not trying to obtain life. He has already received it.

1 John 5:11–12 (KJV)
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

That life is not external help. It is the very life of God within.

2 Peter 1:3–4 (KJV)
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

A child of God therefore does not measure reality by the darkness around him, but by the life within him.

1 John 4:4 (KJV)
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Christ Himself now lives in the child of God.

Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

And that life was never meant to remain inactive. It is to be lived out through the Spirit.

Romans 8:14 (KJV)
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

The Spirit of God does not merely accompany the child of God; He dwells within him.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

Because of that indwelling, a child of God is enabled to walk above the pull of the world.

Galatians 5:16 (KJV)
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

The new life produces a different way of living.

Romans 8:2 (KJV)
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

Therefore the focus of a child of God is not the rising darkness of the age but the reality of Christ within.

Colossians 1:27 (KJV)
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

And because that life is already present, a child of God is called to live from it consciously.

Colossians 2:6 (KJV)
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him.”

The world may grow darker, but a child of God lives from another source entirely — the life of Christ within, expressed through the leading and power of the Holy Spirit.
