THE ADVENT TRUTH
look closely — Matthew 7:21–23 is the most solemn wake-up call for the last days. Jesus does not say, “Depart from Me, you who kept the Sabbath… you who obeyed My commandments.” No — He says, “Depart from Me, you who practice LAWLESSNESS.” (ἀνομία — violation of God’s law).

These people claimed Jesus as Lord. They were active in ministry. They prophesied, cast out demons, performed miracles — all in His name. Yet Jesus says… “I NEVER knew you.” Why? Because miracles, emotion, and religious activity will never substitute for obedience born out of love (John 14:15).

Many preach a gospel that divorces grace from obedience — as if Jesus came to free us from God’s law. But true grace doesn’t erase God’s standard — it writes it into the heart (Heb. 8:10). Satan’s final deception is a Christianity without Christ-like obedience — a form of godliness that denies its power (2 Tim. 3:5).

Jesus Himself said He did not come to abolish the law (Matt. 5:17–19). Paul calls the law holy, just, and good (Rom. 7:12). John says sin is transgression of the law (1 John 3:4). The last warning message describes a faithful people who “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Rev. 14:12). Not either-or… both.

The real question isn’t “Do you believe?” — the demons believe (James 2:19). The real question is: Do you surrender? Do you allow Jesus to transform you into someone who loves what He loves and hates what He hates?

Obedience doesn’t save us — Jesus does. But disobedience proves we have rejected the relationship. Salvation is a gift. Obedience is the evidence.

When Jesus returns, may He not say to us, “I never knew you.”
Let us be doers of the Word — not hearers only (James 1:22).
Let us love God enough to honor His law — written by His own finger.
And let us show the world what it looks like to follow the Lamb wherever He leads (Rev. 14:4).
