DEATH BEFORE THE FALL UNDERMINES THE GOSPEL

The Bible is clear. Death is not part of God’s original creation. It is the result of sin. Genesis describes a finished world that God called very good. There was no death, no disease, no suffering, and no bloodshed. Death enters history only after Adam’s rebellion.

When death is placed before the Fall, everything breaks. If animals were dying for millions of years before sin, then death is no longer an enemy. It becomes a tool God used to create. That directly contradicts Scripture, which calls death the last enemy and ties it explicitly to Adam’s sin.

And this is where the cross is diminished. Jesus did not come to conquer a natural process God had been using all along. He came to defeat an intruder. If death existed long before sin, then the cross becomes symbolic rather than necessary. The gospel collapses into metaphor instead of history.

Paul is explicit. Through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin. Through one Man came resurrection and life. Remove that order, and Christ’s sacrifice loses its meaning. The cross only makes sense if death is the consequence of sin and Jesus came to reverse that curse.

This isn’t about timelines. It’s about truth. Death before the Fall is unbiblical, and it empties the cross of its power.
