7 Marks of a Genuinely Called Pastor
1. A Passion for Souls
[Matthew 28:19–20]
Genuine pastors do not limit their preaching to the church auditorium on Sundays.
Their hearts beat for the lost, often leading them to host crusades and outreach programs. Evangelism is our primary mandate; it is the responsibility of every leader to seek the lost, not just the "Evangelist."
2. Compassion for the Vulnerable
[James 1:27]
Genuinely called pastors do more than just organize occasional events for the underprivileged.
They prioritize the consistent well-being of the vulnerable.
Even when resources are tight, a true leader finds ways to support the livelihood of the needy within the congregation.
3. Preaching the Whole Counsel of God
[Acts 20:27]
A true pastor teaches the complete Gospel—covering salvation, healing, marriage, tithing, and purpose.
They refuse to cherry-pick topics that only favor their own interests or tell people only what they want to hear. Instead, they fearlessly preach the mind of God.
4. Investing in the Members' Earthly Success [3 John 1:2]
Genuinely called pastors care about your impact here on earth.
They help members discover and fulfill their divine purposes, often going as far as sponsoring the education of brilliant but underprivileged members to ensure they have a bright future.
5. Driven by Ministry, Not Money
[Matthew 6:33]
True leaders are not motivated by the pursuit of material wealth.
While they understand that a worker is worthy of his hire, their primary focus remains the assignment God has given them.
For them, ministry is a calling to serve, not a business for profit.
6. Empowering the Gifts of Others
[ Ephesians 4:12]
A real man of God wants to raise other leaders. They provide opportunities for congregants to discover and nurture their spiritual gifts.
A secure pastor is never intimidated by a member’s charisma or anointing; they celebrate it and provide a platform for that grace to grow.
7. Consistency in Character and Integrity
[1 Timothy 3:2]
The final mark of a genuine pastor is a life that matches their message. They strive to live above reproach in both their private and public lives.
Without integrity, all other "success" in ministry is hollow. A true man of God guards his character more than his reputation.
As I End Here :
If your pastor does not demonstrate these qualities, you may not be in the right environment to flourish.
Pray for discernment and ensure you are planted where the Word is preached in its fullness.
Dear man of God, serve with a heart after God’s own. You will one day account to Christ for your stewardship of His church and ministry.
