THE ADVENT TRUTH
The strongest man fell.
The smartest man fell.
Samson had supernatural strength.
Solomon had supernatural wisdom.
Both were gifted by Heaven.
Both had a calling.
Both were destined for greatness.
And yet… they both stumbled in the same exact area.
Not because they were weak.
Not because they were foolish.
But because the heart can be the most dangerous battlefield.
Samson could tear lions apart…
but he couldn’t defeat his own desires. (Judges 16)
Solomon could speak 3,000 proverbs…
but ignored his own advice. (Proverbs 7 + 1 Kings 11)
They didn’t fall because the enemy was strong —
They fell because they trusted themselves instead of God.
Let that settle in for a moment.
* Strength won’t save you.
* Intelligence won’t save you.
* Talent won’t save you.
* “Experience” won’t save you.
Only surrender will.
When a person thinks,
“Hey, I’m not like other people. I’m strong enough. I’m smart enough. I can handle it…”
That’s when they’re most vulnerable.
Proverbs 16:18 warns what happens next:
“Pride goes before destruction…”
This isn’t just a history lesson.
This is a warning for right now.
If the enemy could take out the mightiest and the wisest…
he’ll try even harder with us.
Guard your heart — not just your behavior.
Be careful who you give your affection to.
Be careful with the content you consume.
Be careful with the doors you leave open.
Every downfall starts small.
One compromise.
One click.
One late-night conversation.
One “I’ve got this.”
The real battle isn’t in the gym or the classroom.
It’s in the secret place — where only you and God see what’s happening.
Don’t let a temporary feeling destroy a permanent calling.
* Learn from Samson.
* Learn from Solomon.
* Learn from Scripture.
Because the same God who warns us…
is the same God who empowers us to overcome.
Choose surrender.
Choose purity.
Choose Jesus.
