Science Points Back to Adam and Eve.

Modern genetics has uncovered a surprising truth about the human race: we are all closely related. When scientists study human DNA, it consistently traces humanity back to common ancestors. Researchers refer to them as “Mitochondrial Eve” and “Y-chromosomal Adam”—the woman and man from whom today’s human population traces its maternal and paternal genetic lines. When the genetic trail is followed backward, it narrows toward a shared human beginning.

Scientists have also discovered that human genetic diversity is unusually low compared to many species. This indicates that the human population was once dramatically reduced before spreading across the earth again. Interestingly, traditions describing a catastrophic flood appear in cultures all over the world, telling of a time when humanity was nearly wiped out before repopulating the planet.

The Bible recorded this history long before modern genetics existed. Genesis teaches that all people descend from Adam and Eve and describes a global flood in the days of Noah that drastically reduced the population before the world was repopulated. What science is uncovering today follows the same pattern the Bible described thousands of years ago.

Even the composition of the human body reflects the biblical statement that mankind was formed from the “dust of the ground.” The primary elements in the human body—oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus—are the same elements found in the earth itself. Rather than contradicting Scripture, discoveries in science continue to point back to the same conclusion: humanity began exactly where the Bible says it did—with Adam and Eve.
