Time for a Praise Party
Whenever you feel discouraged or depressed, instead of racing to your “pity party,” have a “praise party” instead. No matter what problem you are facing, or how bad it is . . . you can be sure that someone else has it worse than you do! There are all kinds of people who suffer hardships, such as being homeless, abandoned by friends or family, battered and beaten, innocently thrown in prison, enduring chronic pain, or have a terminal illness, yet in spite of their dismal circumstances, joyfully praise Jesus! Praising Jesus is the very best cure for depression! Start your “praise party” by counting your blessings, beginning with the best blessing of all - having a Lord and Savior who died so that you might live with Him for all eternity! The Bible says in 2 Samuel 22:4, “I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and have been saved from my enemies.” Once you begin praising Jesus, it won’t be long before all those dark, discouraged thoughts fade away, and your heart will sing. Psalm 30:11 says, “Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness.” Cancel your pity party, for it's time for a “praise party,” thanking Jesus for His many blessings. And don’t forget to praise Him for being such an awesome God! Text: Psalm 95:1-6, Psalm 23:1-4, Isaiah 41:10, Philippians 4:19
