Cries for Our Children
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if more people had a burden for introducing children to their Best Friend, Jesus? What a different world this would be if kids grew up knowing how much God loves them. Sadly, we are living in a time where many parents view religion as a social event, going to church on weekends, but then going about their business the rest of the week, as if God was not even present in their lives. It’s amazing how many people claim to be followers of Christ, yet don’t even know how to pray to God in an intimate way. Others have no faith that God really hears “their” prayers . . . or answers. It’s no wonder why young people today stop attending church as soon as they are old enough to refuse! If parents don’t have a close relationship with God, then how can they expect their children to? Parents need to first recommit their lives to God and then pray for wisdom and guidance in raising their little ones. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 1:27-28, “For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore, I have lent him to the Lord. As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.” And in Proverbs 22:6, we’re told, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” God will honor the cries for our children, so pray passionately for their salvation, and experience this truth in 3 John 1:4: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” Text: Isaiah 54:13, Proverbs 20:11, Psalm 127:3, Ephesians 6:4
