THE ADVENT TRUTH
“Adam didn’t keep the Sabbath. It was only for the Jews!”
This argument falls apart the moment we actually open the Bible.
The Sabbath wasn’t created for Jews. It was created before Jews existed.
* Genesis 2:1–3 — God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it at Creation. Who was alive? Adam and Eve — the parents of ALL humanity. God didn’t say “this is only for Hebrews.” He set it apart for the human race.
Jesus confirms this
* “The Sabbath was made for MAN” — not “made for Jews.” (Mark 2:27).
If it was only for Israel, Jesus would have said so.
The Law existed before Sinai
* Cain committed murder → sin (Genesis 4:7–8)
* Joseph refused adultery → sin (Genesis 39:9)
* Abraham kept God’s commandments, statutes, and laws (Genesis 26:5)
How could they sin if the law didn’t exist? (1 John 3:4)
Israel was reminded at Sinai — not introduced
* Exodus 20:8 — “Remember the Sabbath…”
You don’t “remember” something brand-new.
Sabbath in Heaven
* Isaiah 66:22–23 — God’s people will worship from Sabbath to Sabbath in the New Earth.
So it was kept before sin and will be kept after sin — why would God erase it only during sin?
Gentiles commanded to keep Sabbath
* Isaiah 56:2,6–7 — Even foreigners who keep the Sabbath receive God’s covenant blessings.
* Acts 13 & 16 — Gentile believers gathered on Sabbath to hear the gospel.
This isn’t about being “Jewish.”
This is about loyalty to our Creator.
One God → One people → One day He blessed, sanctified, and never changed.
Jesus didn’t give authority to any man or church to alter His commandments (Hebrews 13:8; Matthew 5:17–19). If God NEVER changed the Sabbath… who did?
The Sabbath isn’t legalism.
It’s love.
It’s relationship.
It’s rest with the One who made you.
Find it in the Bible.
