Demonstrating God’s Great Love
Christians talk a lot about how much Jesus loves them and the tremendous sacrifice He made on Calvary, demonstrating His great love for mankind, but you don’t hear a lot about how much Christians demonstrate their deep love for God. When you truly love someone, you nurture that relationship with acts of kindness, support, open communication, and unselfishness. Sometimes the depth of your love is measured by your willingness to put their needs or desires ahead of your own, which requires sacrifice on your part. So it is with your friendship with God. If you want God to know how much you love Him, remember that actions speak louder than words! It is not enough to simply “tell Him” as it is far more meaningful to “show Him” through your obedience, denying self and sinful desires. God makes it very clear just how much He wants us to show Him our love in John 14:15: “If you love me, keep my commandments.” He has also instructed us to show love to each other. The Bible says in 1 John 4:7, “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” All throughout scripture, God’s messages have always been about demonstrating His great love! Text: 1 Peter 4:8, Matthew 25:40, 1 John 2:2, 1 John 4:18-19
