GOD'S THRONE OF GRACE
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16
It is a staggering thought to realize that the Creator of the universe invites us to approach His throne. In many earthly kingdoms, a throne is a place of intimidation or judgment, where one might fear to stand. However, for us as children of God, the throne is defined by grace.
We don't have to wait until we have our lives perfectly together or until we have scrubbed away every mistake to come before Him. Because of what Jesus has done for us, the door is wide open. We can come exactly as we are, knowing that we will be met with the heart of a Father rather than the gavel of a judge.
We often try to carry our burdens until we reach a breaking point, feeling as though we shouldn't bother God with our struggles. But this scripture encourages us to come specifically so that we may receive what we lack.
We come to receive mercy for our past and to find grace for our present. Whether we are facing a massive crisis or just the quiet exhaustion of a long day, He describes this as our time of need. There is no need too small for His attention and no failure too big for His mercy. He is waiting for us to step into His presence so He can provide the help that only He can give.
Today, let’s choose to walk with the confidence that this verse promises. This confidence isn't based on our own goodness, but on the finished work of Christ. We can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that we have a seat at the table of the King. When we feel overwhelmed, let’s stop and turn our hearts toward the throne of grace.
We will find that His supply of mercy is never-ending and His grace is always perfectly timed to meet us right where we are. We are never alone in our struggles, and we are never without a place to turn for help.
God bless you!
