THE GRACE OF GOD WITH US
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”1 Corinthians 15:10
We often struggle with our identity, trying to define ourselves by our careers, our family roles, or our past mistakes. It can be exhausting to constantly try to become someone of value. However, the Apostle Paul gives us a beautiful template for a different kind of identity, by the grace of God I am what I am.
This is the ultimate statement of peace. It acknowledges that everything good in us, our talents, our character, and our very standing before God is a result of His favor. We don’t have to prove ourselves to anyone when we realize that God’s grace is the foundation of who we are.
There is a common misconception that grace makes us passive or lazy. Some think that if God does everything, we don’t have to do anything. But Paul shows us the opposite. He says that God’s grace was not without effect. In fact, grace was the very thing that energized him to work harder than anyone else. Grace is not just a safety net for when we fall, it is the fuel that empowers us to get up and run. When we truly understand how much we have been given, it creates a holy momentum within us. We don't work for grace; we work from grace.
Today, as you face your responsibilities, remember that you are not working in your own strength. Whether you are managing a household, navigating a difficult job, or serving your community, you can say, not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
This shift in perspective takes the pressure off. If the results depend on His grace, we can give our best effort without the crushing weight of anxiety. Let’s allow His grace to be effective in us today, moving us to love deeper and work more joyfully, knowing that He is the one providing the power for every task
God bless you!
