Perhaps Today… bless instead of react

Thursday 26

Scripture
Luke 6:28 NASB
“Bless those who curse you, pray for those who are abusive to you.”

This is not a natural response—it’s a supernatural one. When we’re hurt, our guards go up, and our instinct is to defend, withdraw, or return the same pain. But Jesus calls us to go higher. To bless instead of curse is to refuse to let bitterness take root. To pray for those who wound us is to place them—and our pain—into God’s hands.

This kind of love doesn’t excuse wrong, but it frees our hearts from being bound by it. When we choose to bless, we reflect the mercy we’ve already received.

We step out of reaction and into Christlikeness.

Prayer
Father, teach me to respond the way Jesus did. When I am hurt, guard my heart from anger and pride. Help me to bless those who speak against me and to pray for those who cause pain. Fill me with Your love so I can reflect Your grace. Amen.
