The context of this verse is love. I would imagine that Paul had a number of years under his belt before he learned this. To love as our Messiah loved is not humanly normal. It is especially difficult in a self-centered culture like ours. I firmly believe that in this season God is wanting us to devote time to learning how to love as He does. This world is going to need it.
