THE ADVENT TRUTH.
“Worms and fire prove eternal torment” and “If heaven is eternal, hell must be too” sound persuasive—until you actually let the Bible define its own language.

Isaiah 66:24 is the source Jesus quotes: “their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched.” But read the context carefully. The scene is corpses, not conscious souls. Dead bodies. No awareness. No torment. Worms don’t die because the destruction isn’t interrupted. Fire isn’t quenched because nothing stops it until its work is complete. This is duration of effect, not duration of experience.

The same language is used elsewhere. Jerusalem burned with “unquenchable fire” (Jeremiah 17:27). Is Jerusalem still burning today? No. The fire burned until nothing remained. “Unquenchable” means unstoppable, not eternal.

Jesus confirms this in Matthew 10:28: “Fear Him which is able to DESTROY both soul and body in hell.” Not preserve. Not torture forever. Destroy.

Now let’s deal with the emotional slogan:
“If Heaven is eternal, hell must be eternal.”

That’s philosophy—not Scripture.

Eternal life is a gift given only to the saved (Romans 6:23). The wicked are never promised eternal life anywhere. In fact, Scripture repeatedly says the opposite:
• The wicked perish (Psalm 37:20)
• They are burned up (Malachi 4:1–3)
• They become ashes (Malachi 4:3)
• Their end is destruction, not life (Philippians 3:19)

Heaven is eternal because God sustains life.
Hell is final because God ends sin.

Revelation calls it the second death, not the second life.

An eternal hell of conscious torment doesn’t magnify God’s justice—it contradicts His character. It turns God into a cosmic torturer while Satan gets blamed for cruelty God supposedly practices forever.

The Bible is consistent:
* Fire consumes
* Worms consume
* Sin ends in death
* God alone is immortal (1 Timothy 6:16)

Truth doesn’t need tradition to survive. It just needs Scripture.
