Step Five
Matthew 5:37 “But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’, and your ‘No,’ ‘No’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
James 5:12-16 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath, But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No.” lest you fall into judgement.
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Mark 6:7-13 And he called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.
He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff--no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts--
but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.
Also He said to them, "In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place.
"And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!"
So they went out and preached that people should repent.
And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.
Mark 16:14-20 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.
And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
"And these signs will follow those who believe; In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
"they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly; it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
Isaiah 33:17-24 Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; They will see the land that is very far off.
Your heart will meditate on terror; "Where is the scribe? Where is he who weighs? Where is he who counts the towers?"
You will not see a fierce people, A people of obscure speech, beyond perception, Of a stammering tongue that you cannot understand.
Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home, A tabernacle that will not be taken down; Not one of its stakes will ever be removed, Nor will any of its cords be broken.
But there the majestic LORD will be for us a place of broad rivers and streams, In which no galley with oars will sail, Nor majestic ships pass by
(For the LORD is our Judge, The LORD is our Lawgiver, The LORD is our King; He will save us);
Your tackle is loosed, They could not strengthen their mast, They could not spread the sail. Then the prey of great plunder is divided; The lame take the prey.
And the inhabitant will not say, "I am sick"; The people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity.
Numbers 11:10-15 Then Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and the anger of the LORD was greatly aroused; Moses also was displeased.
So Moses said to the LORD, "Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me?
"Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, 'Carry them in your bosom, as a guardian carries a nursing child,' to the land which You swore to their fathers?
"Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying, 'Give us meat, that we may eat.'
"I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me.
"If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now--if I have found favor in Your sight-- and do not let me see my wretchedness!"
