📘 Daily Devotion — April 1 | Mark 1:3 (NKJV) 💖 Preparing Your Heart for God Mark chapter 1 introduces the ministry of John the Baptist, the one sent ahead of Jesus to prepare the people for the coming of the Messiah. John’s message was simple yet powerful. Prepare the way of the Lord and make His paths straight. This preparation was not about roads or physical paths. It was about the condition of the human heart. John called people to repentance and readiness. Many had grown comfortable in routine religion while their hearts drifted away from God. John’s voice in the wilderness was a wake up call, urging people to remove the obstacles that prevented them from truly receiving the Lord. The idea of making the path straight speaks of clearing away what hinders spiritual movement. Pride, distraction, unforgiveness, and complacency can create crooked paths in our lives. When these barriers remain, it becomes difficult to hear God clearly and follow His direction. For believers today this verse reminds us that preparing the way for the Lord begins within our hearts. God desires hearts that are ready, humble, and responsive to His Word. When we remove the obstacles and realign our priorities, we make space for God to work more fully in our lives.
