A Willing Heart to Give

Scripture

Exodus 35:21 (NKJV)
Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments.

Giving From the Heart

When it came time to build the tabernacle, God did not demand from His people. Instead, He stirred their hearts, and those who were willing brought offerings. Gold, silver, bronze, fine linen, and other materials were freely given for God’s dwelling place. The work of God was accomplished not by forced obligation but by joyful generosity.

This verse reminds us that true giving flows from a willing heart. God values not the amount we give but the spirit in which we give. He loves a cheerful giver because such giving reflects trust, gratitude, and devotion.

For believers today, our giving—whether time, resources, or talents—should be an act of worship. When our hearts are stirred by God’s presence and purpose, generosity becomes a joyful response.

Reflection Questions

1. Is my giving motivated by obligation, or by a heart stirred with love for God?

2. How can I practice generosity not only with money but also with time, talents, and encouragement?

3. Do I see giving as an act of worship that honors God?

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for stirring my heart to give. Teach me to be generous with joy, offering what I have as an act of worship to You. Help me to give willingly and faithfully, knowing that all I have belongs to You. In Jesus name, Amen
