Holy Week Thursday – The Night of Love, Humility, and Preparation
As Holy Week continues, Thursday brings us into one of the most intimate and powerful moments in the life of Jesus. After traveling back and forth between Bethany and Jerusalem all week—teaching, correcting, and preparing hearts—Jesus now gathers with His disciples for what would be His final night before the cross.
This was not just a meal. This was a moment of deep meaning.
Jesus sat with His disciples, fully knowing what was coming. He knew the betrayal. He knew the suffering. He knew the cross was hours away. Yet in that moment, He chose to love, to serve, and to prepare His followers.
He knelt down and washed their feet.
The King of kings became a servant.
He showed them—and us—that true greatness in the Kingdom of God is not found in power, but in humility. Not in being served, but in serving others.
He also spoke words that still echo today. He declared that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He called His disciples to abide in Him, to stay connected, because apart from Him we can do nothing.
And in the midst of all this, He gave a new commandment—to love one another as He has loved us.
Holy Thursday reminds us that following Jesus is not just about believing in Him—it is about becoming like Him.
Serving.
Loving.
Staying close.
As we reflect tonight, let us examine our own hearts.
Are we walking in humility?
Are we loving others the way Jesus loves us?
Are we truly abiding in Him daily?
Let this not just be a remembrance—let it be a transformation.
Draw near to Jesus. Abide in Him. Walk with Him daily on Lordsbook.
