The Fear of The Lord Is

Psalm 111:10 NKJV The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments, His praise endures forever.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 2:1-13 My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you,

So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding;

Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding,

If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures;

Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God.

For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding;

He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;

He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.

Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path.

When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,

Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you,

To deliver you from the the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things,

From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

Proverbs 3:9-26 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;

So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction;

For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding;

For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold.

She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.

Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her.

The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens;

By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew.

My son, let them not depart from your eyes--Keep sound wisdom and discretion;

So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck.

Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble.

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.

Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;

For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.

Ecclesiastics 12:1 Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, "I have no pleasure in them."

Ecclesiastics 12:6-14 Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, Or the golden bowl is broken, Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well.

Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.

"Vanity of vanities," says the Preacher, "All is vanity."

And moreover, because the Preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he pondered and sought out and set in order many proverbs.

The Preacher sought to find acceptable words; and what was written was upright--words of truth.

The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of scholars are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd.

And furthur, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all.

For God will bring every work into judgement, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.

Isaiah 8:11-15 For the Lord spoke thus to me with a stong hand, and instructed me that I would not walk in the way of this people, saying;

"Do not say, 'A conspiracy,' Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats. nor be troubled.

The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your dread.

He will be as a sanctuary, But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense To both the houses of Israel, As a trap and a snare of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

And many among them shall stumble; They shall fall and be broken, Be snared and taken."

Matthew 10:28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul, Bur rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Acts 9:31 Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified, and walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

2 Timothy 1:6-8 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying of my hands,

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of the Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,

Hebrews 2:14-16 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.

1 Peter 2:17 Honor all people, Love the brotherhood, Fear God, Honor the king.

1 John 4:17-18 Love has been perfected among us in this; that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
