Good morning
In Zechariah 7, the people ask God a religious question:
Should they continue fasting like they’ve done for years?
But God responds with something deeper:
“Was it really for Me that you fasted?” (v5)
God wasn’t impressed by their rituals, because their hearts were far from Him.
He reminds them of what truly matters:
Show mercy and compassion
Do not oppress others
Speak truth
Care for the vulnerable (v9-10)
Yet in the past, the people refused to listen. They hardened their hearts… and that led to consequences.
The message is clear:
God is not after empty religion, He desires genuine hearts.
Devotion:
It’s easy to go through the motions, to pray, attend, fast, and still miss God. But today, God is asking: Is your heart in it?
Let’s not just do things for God, let’s walk with Him in sincerity, love, and obedience.
“They made their hearts as hard as flint…” (v12)
Let our hearts stay soft before Him.
Have a blessed day
