Safe in the Cleft

The wind blows all around,
the snow falls without warning,
the storm rages in every direction,
yet I am not moved.

I am held safe
in the cleft of the Rock,
hidden in the place
where You keep me.

The wind cannot knock me
from where I stand,
for I do not stand alone.
I am held in Your arms.

Though the storm ravages
all that surrounds me,
I remain unmoved,
secured in Your presence,
protected from every element.

The warmth of Your love
is my shield,
my covering,
my refuge.

I have no fear
in this place of Your love.
Though the storm presses in
on every side,
You will not let it come near me.

Your love surrounds me,
a fortress I did not build.

Held in grace
I cannot understand,
in love I do not deserve,
yet freely given.

It costs me nothing
but surrender.

So I rest here,
in the cleft of the Rock,
hidden, held,
forever safe in You.
