A NUGGET OF TRUTH.
Matthew 7:21–23 is one of the most sobering warnings in all of Scripture.

These are not unbelievers.
These are people who call Jesus “Lord.”
They are confident. Active. Even involved in works done in His name.

And yet Christ says, “I never knew you.”

Why?

“Depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

This passage destroys the idea that a mere profession of faith is enough.

Salvation is by faith — but never a faith that leaves the life unchanged.
True faith unites the soul with Christ, and that union produces obedience.

Scripture is consistent:

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)
“He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar.” (1 John 2:4)
“Faith without works is dead.” (James 2:26)

Grace does not excuse lawlessness.
It delivers us from it.

Those who cling to a profession while practising sin are not protected by grace —
they are forfeiting it.

The question is not, “Do I call Him Lord?”
The question is: Do I know Him, and does my life reflect His will?
