Proverbs 5:1-14 NKJV

Proverbs 5:1-14 My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding,

That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge.

For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil;

But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.

Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell.

Lest you ponder her path of life--Her ways are unstable; You do not know them.

Therefore hear me now, my children, And do not depart from the words of my mouth.

Remove your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house,

Lest you give your honor to others, And your years to the cruel one;

Lest aliens be filled with your wealth, And your labors go to the house of a foreigner;

And you mourn a last, When your flesh and your body are consumed.

And say; "How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction!

I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Not inclined my ear to those who instructed me!

I was on the verge of total ruin, In the midst of the assembly and congregation."

Malachi 2:1-9 "And now, O priests, this commandment is for you.

If you will not hear, And if you will no take it to heart, To give glory to My name," Says the LORD of hosts, "I will send a curse upon you, And I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have cursed them already, Because you do not take it to heart.

"Behold, I will rebuke your descendants And spread refuse on your faces, The refuse of your solemn feasts; And one will take you away with it.

Then you shall know that I have sent this commandment to you, That My covenant with Levi may continue," Says the LORD of hosts.

"My covenant was with him, one of life and peace, And I gave them to him that he might fear Me; So he feared Me And was reverent before My name.

The law of truth was in his mouth, And injustice was not found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and equity, And turned many away from iniquity.

For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, And people should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

But you have departed from the way; You have caused many to stumble at the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi," Says the LORD of hosts.

"Therefore I also have made you contemptible and base Before all the people, Because you have not kept My ways But have shown partiality in the law."

Proverbs 2:11-22 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you;

To deliver you form the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things,

From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths;

To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words.

Who forsakes the companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God.

For her house leads down to death, And her paths to the dead;

None who go to her return, Nor do they regain the paths of life--

So you may walk in the way of goodness, And keep to the paths of righteousness.

For the upright will dwell in the land, And the blameless will remain in it;

But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.

Psalm 55:1-23 GIVE ear to my prayer, O God, And do not hide Yourself from my supplication.

Attend to me, and hear me; I am restless in my complaint, and moan nosily,

Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me, And in wrath they hate me.

My heart is severely pained within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me;

Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, and horror has overwhelmed me.

So I said, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.

Indeed, I would wander far off, And remain in the wilderness. Selah

I would hasten my escape From the windy storm and tempest.

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city.

Day and night they go around it on its walls; Iniquity and trouble are also in the midst of it.

Destruction is in the midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from its streets.

For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him.

But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance.

We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng,

Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, For wickedness is in their dwelling and among them.

As for me, I will call upon God, And the LORD shall save me,

Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.

He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, For there were many against me.

God will hear, and afflict them, Even he who abides from of old. Because they do not change, therefore they do not fear God.

He was put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; he has broken his covenant.

The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, But war was in his heart; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords,

Cast your burden of the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

But you, O God, shall bring them down to the pit of destruction; Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; But I will trust in You.
